Director Nomination Process Begins

As we prepare for this year’s director elections, I want to provide an overview of the nominating committee process and outline the steps we take to put forth names of candidates to serve on the Wasco Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.
In accordance with our bylaws, the board appoints a nominating committee to identify and nominate qualified candidates for any upcoming director vacancies. This process occurs during our August 2025 board of directors meeting.
As stated in our bylaws, a qualified director:
- Must be a bona fide resident in the area served by the cooperative.
- Must not in any way be employed by or have a financial interest in a competing enterprise or a business selling electric energy to the cooperative.
- Must not be an incumbent of, or candidate for, an elective public office in connection with which a salary is paid.
- Must have the capacity to enter into legally binding contracts.
- Must be an individual.
- Has not been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, a felony within 5 years prior to becoming a director.
- Has membership rights that are not suspended at the time the member is a candidate for the position.
- Does not have a spouse serving on the current board of directors.
