Wasco Electric Cooperative is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Warehouseman.
WEC serves 5,000 square miles service Wasco and Sherman counties along with portions of Jefferson, Wheeler, and Gilliam Counties. Our system provides reliable power to roughly 3,060 members throughout the communities.
WEC’s main office is in The Dalles, OR along with warehouses in The Dalles, Grass Valley, and Maupin. The Warehouseman will report to The Dalles Warehouse but work out of the other warehouses as needed.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for maintaining an inventory of line hardware, tools, wire, and other associated material to maintain the WEC’s distribution and transmission systems.
- Keep the office warehouse, main warehouse, remote warehouses, and surrounding area clean and free of hazards.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with the SDS program.
- Maintain the SDS book and review the inventory of all items on company property to ensure they are included within in SDS book.
- Implement recommendations from the safety committee concerning any corrections to the warehouse area or submit a plan of correction.
- Deliver material to crews in the field when applicable.
- Serve on committees when requested by supervisor.
- Provide input to Operations Supervisor on ways to improve inventory accuracy, turnover ratio, and paperwork procedures.
- All WEC employees are expected to work outside of regular business hours when required during emergency restoration activities and to accomplish other special projects.
- Must complete timecards, reports, data tickets, logs, or similar paperwork following prescribed formats as explained by supervisors.
- Assisting Line Crews in work when requested.
- Cleaning and sweeping of all warehouse facilities.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining Warehouse inventories.
Requirements
- Ability to complete work in a detailed and methodical manner and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of the work.
- Ability to quickly learn and grasp policies and protocols included in on-the-job training.
- Knowledgeable in proper body mechanics/ergonomics and the ability to use correct body position/mechanics, tools, or work aids to work, move, guide or place objects or materials.
- Must be able to operate and have a working knowledge of a wide variety of small trucks, forklifts, and hand tools.
- Working knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to the essential functions of job, including SDS procedures, protocols, and formats.
- Knowledge of fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and other math skills normally required for inventory control.
- Must maintain a positive, courteous, and respectful attitude, communicate effectively and accurately, and work cooperatively with WEC members, vendors, employees, supervisors, and the general public.
- Must speak and read English to communicate with co-workers and the general public regarding publications, technical periodicals, training materials, equipment manuals, and maps.
- Must perform the duties of this position in a safe and efficient manner, wear all appropriate and required personal protective equipment, and follow all safety regulations and protocols.
- Exercises initiative to accomplish assignments, asking questions on most complex issues. Problems are easily defined and solved according to policies and procedures. Job duties are clearly defined. Order or priority of tasks can be modified within parameters set by the supervisor.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers for entering data, Microsoft Office Products, and WEC’s Customer and Accounting Software, or be able to display proficiency within six months.
- Valid or Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
This is an hourly/non-exempt Union position-IBEW Local 125.
