Outage Restoration
Outages should be reported 24 hours a day to 541-296-2740 or 800-341-8580. Please call immediately if your power goes out, don't rely on neighbors to call first and do not wait for the office to open or for a more convenient time of day. Wasco Electric has personnel available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to resolve your service issues.
Power outages are commonly due to bad weather, trees in electric lines or equipment, animals, or motor vehicle accidents and the length of time you may be out of power can vary depending on the severity of the problem. Sometimes customers will experience blinks before an outage. Under normal system operation, when equipment detects a fault the breakers will try three times to clear the line. If, after the third try or blink, the problem isn't cleared, it will turn off the power.
Turn on your porch light so crews can easily see when your power has been restored. Turn off heating and cooling appliances until after the power has been restored. This will help prevent overload due to excessive demand during the first few minutes after the power has been restored. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. Most modern appliances will maintain adequate cooling for over six hours if doors are not opened.
