August Events and 2010 Annual Meeting
Although November is still a long ways off, preparations for the 71st Annual Meeting of Wasco Electric Cooperative, Inc. are under way.
The 2010 annual meeting will be held on Saturday, November 20th at the Civic Auditorium. During the meeting, members will be voting on three director positions, one from each of the three districts, which will be expiring.
At the August board meeting, the board of directors will appoint the nominating committee who will be selecting candidates to run for the three board member positions up for election this year. This committee will be meeting in early September to nominate members for election. If you are a member who is willing to serve on the board of directors, please let us know and we will pass your name on to the nominating committee members for consideration.
Current board of director members who will be seeking re-election are: District #1-Bob Durham, serving on the board since 1994 and current President, District #2-Gary Brown, serving on the board since 1998 and current Vice President, and District #3-Jim McNamee, serving on the board since 2006.
August Events
August is a busy time of year for many end-of-summer events. Below is a list of several signature events.
I encourage you to get out and take in some, if not all, of these great events.
• August 6-8: Shaniko Days.
• August 13-15: Cruise the Gorge, The Dalles.
• August 14-15: Dufur Threshing Bee.
• August 19-22: Wasco County Fair, Tygh Valley.
• August 24-28: Sherman County Fair, Moro.
